Cataloging & Indexing Services

Cataloging and Indexing Services provides seamless access to library materials by creating descriptive records for all materials in the library, searchable through the online catalog. This includes the assigning of call numbers, publication information, subject terms, and other descriptive metadata following standard universal cataloging practices. In the library’s online catalog you will find many useful resources including:

  • State and Local agency reports to the General Assembly
  • DLS publications and audit reports
  • common legal resources, both in print and via the LexisNexis Digital Library
  • a wide variety of research materials related to public policy, both general and Maryland-specific

Additionally, Cataloging and Indexing Services assigns subject headings to bills introduced each legislative session.  These bills, as well as past bills, are then searchable on the MGA website.  This area also provides indexing services for various DLS publications including Session Laws, House and Senate Journals, and Executive Orders.
