Technical Processing Services
Technical Processing Services assists in the processing, shelving, and circulation of books and other print materials used by members of the legislature, legislative staff, and members of the public. As well, this unit prepares materials for digital scanning as well as print binding. Technical Processing Services performs the following duties:
- Collection Maintenance: Materials such as copies of the bills and synopses are bound and thereby preserved for future use. Other library materials, such as items in the Maryland Documents collection and periodicals, are processed for circulation and shelved in the library’s collection.
- Bill Files: Legislative committees submit their bill files to the library for processing, scanning, and storage.
- Annotated Code of Maryland: Sets of the Maryland Code are loaned to members of the Maryland General Assembly and DLS staff. The Technical Processing staff delivers and makes updates to these sets several times per year.
